What you missed out on

NAMPO Cape 2023, held from 13 to 16 September, was a vibrant gathering that united the agricultural community in the Western Cape. The event, themed "Green Energy Revolution", served as a beacon of innovation and knowledge, offering a plethora of opportunities for attendees to learn and grow. The ‘Nation in Conversation’ forum, spearheaded by Theo Vorster and Anlie Hattingh, facilitated insightful discussions on pressing topics such as trade relations and the growth of the canola industry. Simultaneously, the lunchtime conversations hosted by Food For Mzansi and Land Bank empowered new-era farmers, fostering dialogue and collaboration.

The event was a hotbed of innovation, encouraging farmers and students to showcase their ingenious creations, ranging from new machinery to home and garden innovations. Attendees were treated to live demonstrations of the latest technology, including water treatment solutions and hands-on experiences at the trial plots and the Engen 4x4 track. The breed exhibitions and shows were a central attraction, offering a golden opportunity to learn more about different livestock breeds and witness exciting competitions that showcased the best of the breeds.

Adding a touch of grace and elegance to the event was the equestrian programme, featuring daily horse shows at the Fuchs Arena and captivating performances by the South African Lippizaners and the Griffins Horse Archery team. The Honey Show was a sweet highlight, focusing on the unique Cape honeybee and offering honey tasting and competitions. Meanwhile, the museum tent took visitors on a nostalgic journey, showcasing artifacts and household objects from bygone eras.

The event ensured a delightful experience for all, including children with educational programmes and fun activities, and women with a dedicated program featuring food, beauty secrets, and music.

Overall, NAMPO Cape 2023 was a grand celebration that fostered community spirit and created beautiful memories for all who attended.
