Can be used without the need for fixed premises (take the sawmill to the trees rather than the trees to the sawmill) 18 H/P petrol-powered Vanguard V-twin engine, with an electric & manual start. Mill large-diameter hard- or softwood logs into valuable boards and beams without turning the logs. Can be deployed in the field, even uneven terrain, around a large log, allowing milled boards and beams to be transported out rather than having to haul a heavy log to a sawmill. Much more profitable to move only the milled timber out rather than the entire tree. Pays for itself quickly if there's access to sufficient biomass and with a competent operator.
